No Frills Northern Master ratifies wage increases and improvements to benefits with new collective agreement.

With a strike deadline looming, the retail grocery members in the No Frills Northern Master agreement, (with stores in Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay, and Elliot Lake) ratified a five-year agreement on November 25, 2024.

The deal secures wage increases for full-time workers of $3.45/hour to end rates over the life of the agreement including $1.00/hour at date of ratification and another 50 cents in March 2025. Members will also receive a $1000 signing bonus.

Part-time workers wages will improve $0.95/hour for end rate employees in 2024, and MW+ $1.00 for end rate over the term of the agreement. There will be signing bonuses in the amounts of $500 for workers at end rate, a $300 signing bonus for those with 3+ years of service who are not at end rate, and $100 for members with under 3 years service. 

The employer contribution to pensions has increased for all workers.

Benefit improvements include that the supplementary healthcare benefit will increase to $70 per visit, 10 times per year. The employer premium will increase from 22 cents to 27 cents per hour for the part-time benefit plan, and dental reimbursement updated to reflect current ODA fee guide.  

There will be a new safety shoe allowance of $80 and the optical coverage will increase from $175 – $200 every 24 months.
