Mobile Climate Control ratifies, ending labour dispute and achieving new collective agreement with wage increases and improved language.

The membership at Mobile Climate Control in Mississauga and Vaughan ratified a four-year agreement on November 1, 2024 ending a twelve-day long strike.

This deal secures wage increase for the workers in each year as follows: Year 1 – $2.00, Year 2 – $0.75, Year 3 – $1.00, and Year 4 – $1.00. There will also be a 50 cent per hour wage adjustment for those in the Microchannel. There will be an additional 10 cents added to the afternoon shift premium, and 85 cents added to the night shift premium.

The employer matching contribution to the RRSP will increase by $25 per year.

Benefit improvements include an increase to the dental cap from $1,600.00 maximum per person for each benefit year to $1,625.00 effective April 1, 2025, $1,650 effective January 1, 2026, and $1,675.00 effective January 1, 2027. The paramedic cap for each visit will also increase to $50.00 effective April 1, 2025, $55.00 effective January 1, 2026 and $60.00 effective January 1, 2027.

Language improvements include:

  • Vision care coverage will increase to an annual maximum of $230 effective April 1, 2025, $250 effective January 1, 2026 and $260 effective January 1, 2027. Prescription safety glasses will now be included in coverage.
  • Eye exam coverage will be $60 every two years.
  • Safety footwear coverage will increase to an annual maximum coverage amount of January 1, 2025 – $140, January 1, 2026 – $150, and January 1, 2027 – $160.
  • There will be an additional sick day, and medical notes will be covered twice a year in the amount of $25.
  • The amount of time stewards will have per month for Union business will increase.
  • Stewards must be present for investigation and discipline meetings.
  • Improved grievance procedure and sunset clause.
  • Improved language in the areas of: job posting, seniority, and work refusal.
  • Bereavement leave scope increased.
  • Overtime to be offered by seniority on a rotation basis.
