Metro Elmvale ratifies

Metro Elmvale ratifies new collective agreement with wage increases and language improvements including a new premium and improved short term disability pay.
Metro Elmvale members in Ottawa unanimously ratified a four-year agreement on December 3, 2024.
Full-Time members hired prior to November 17, 2014 will receive wage increases of: Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $1.00, Year 3 – $0.85, and Year 4 – $0.85. Full-time hired after November 17, 2014 wage increase will be: Year 1 – $0.85, Year 2 – $0.85, Year 3 – $0.85, and Year 4 – $0.85.
Part-time workers wages will increase from Minimum Wage + $1.80 to Minimum Wage + $2.20 at end rate, with the exception of part-time Meat Cutter whose increases will be: Year 1 – $0.85, Year 2 – $0.85, Year 3 – $0.85, and Year 4 – $0.85.
Workers will also received lump sum payments of full-time $150.00, and part-time $100 or $50.00 depending on seniority.
The night shift premium and the premium for working past 9:00 pm will both increase to $1.10 per hour up from $1.00. There will be a new premium for the Floral Department of 75 cents per hour.
Other language improvements include:
- Improved Short Term Disability maximum pay.
- Vision care coverage increased to $300.00, up from $200.00.
- Safety Boot allowance increased to $150 yearly for full-time and for part-time $150 every two years, up from $125.
- Part-Time employees are now able to be guaranteed 28 hours after four years service instead of five years.
- Bereavement leave of five days to include grandchild, previously three days.
- The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be added to the list of paid holidays for both full and part-time workers.
- Improved Health and Safety language added into the agreement.
- The company agrees to provide winter and thermal jackets.
