Herb and Spice ratifies

Herb and Spice ratifies increases to wages, premiums, and benefit improvements with new collective agreement.
Herb and Spice Food and Wellness Shop in Ottawa unanimously ratified a two-year agreement on March 11, 2025. All employees are now on a minimum wage plus grid. In year one increases range from $0.20 to $1.00 per hour and in year two increases range from $0.10 to $1.00 per hour.
There will be premium increases of:
- In Charge premium increased to $1.50 from $1.25.
- Department Head Relief premium increased $2.50 from $2.25.
- Buyer premium increased to $1.25 per hour from $1.00.
- Acting Supervisor premium increased to $1.25 per hour from $1.00.
- Department Head premium increased to $2.00 per hour from $1.50.
The Health Care spending account will increase to $1,100.00 for full-time, $500.00 for part-time who work between 20 to 34 hours and $350.00 for part-time who work between 10 to 19hours.
Language improvements include:
- Sick Days increased to 28 hours (up from 21 hours) for full-time.
- Bereavement days for Grand-Parent and Grandchild increased to 2 days.
- Negotiating Committee will receive one days paid by employer to attend ratification meetings.
- Improved Health and Safety language.
- Menstrual Products will be available at the workplace at no cost to employees.
