More than 60 members working for Hallmark Housekeeping at three locations in downtown Toronto have achieved a new agreement that will see them through the next three years.

Members will see wage increases of $1 in year one, $0.80 in year two, and $0.80 in year three. Premiums improve to provide $1 per hour for Lead Hands on morning and afternoon shifts. The Night shift premium increases to $0.75 per hour at all three locations, which is an increase from the previous $0.50 per hour at two locations and from $0.35 cents at the third location.

New language provides employees who have passed their probation period with an employer-matching RRSP plan starting at a cap of 1% of an employee’s gross earnings. This cap will increase to 2% effective January 1, 2027.

The Union Negotiating Committee also achieved an additional week of vacation, now six weeks paid at 12%, for those with 20 years of service.

A number of further improvements brings language in line across all three locations regarding leaves of absence, seniority credits when moving from part-time to full-time, overtime, uniforms, and doctor’s notes. In addition, members at all three locations are now covered by the same health and welfare plan which will also provide improved benefits.

The employer will also contribute $1,250, up from $1,000, toward the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund.

Union Negotiating Committee: Paula Bedoya, Laura Obando, and Union Representative Rick Daudlin.
