Colonial cookies members ratify substantial wage increases in new agreement

The members employed by Colonial Cookies in Kitchener have ratified a three-year agreement on July 23, 2023. Wages will increase over the term of the deal for General Labourers – 10.5%, Operators 10% and Maintenance 9%. Shift premiums will increase from $0.25-$0.45/hour to $1.25-$3.50/hour. There is also a signing bonus of $300.
Benefit improvements will see paramedical coverage increased and prescriptions will be reimbursed at 100%. There are increases in the employer contribution to the dental plan.
Other language improvements include:
- Shoe allowance increased from $120 to $175.
- Tool Allowance increased from $200 to $250.
- Job posting language improvements.
- Overtime sign up sheets.
- Language to allow for vacation leave to be taken in days.
- Cross training language for other departments.
- Improved language for Stewards to meet new members.
