Canteen Canada Cambridge ratifies

Canteen Canada ratifies wage increases and benefit improvements with new collective agreement for members in Cambridge.
The membership at Canteen of Canada in Cambridge unanimously ratified a three-year agreement on August 19, 2025.
Wages for the members will increase $2.25/hour over the term of the agreement with red-circled employees wage entitlement increasing from 50% to 100% of the general wage increase. There will also be a signing bonus of $300.
Benefit improvements include:
- The employer contribution to the UFCW Trusted Dental Plan increases from $0.48 to $0.52/hour.
- Short Term Disability payments increase from $475 to $500/week.
- Long Term Disability payments increase from $1500 to $2250/month.
Other language improvements include:
- Vision Care coverage increases from $350 to $500 every 24 months.
- Orthotics coverage improves from $200 to $500 per year.
- Coverage for orthotic shoes increases from – $250 to $500.
- Increase in the boot/clothing allowance from $275 to $300.
- Lead hand premium of $1.50 up from $0.50.
- Bereavement leave will include Aunt and Uncle with one day off with pay.
- Sick days – employees will receive eight sick days on January 1 of each year. Previously sick days were accumulated throughout the year.
- Incentive routes.
- A Letter of Understanding will be added to ensure that snow rated tires are installed on all vehicles by December 1st of each year.
