Members at Canada Royal Milk have been producing powdered milk products for several years and the new facility will now produce infant formula as well.
This shift in production means that Canada has its first baby formula production facility and no longer has to rely on imports.
“This is a huge step for the industry and for the members at Canada Royal Milk, their continued growth will create jobs and ensure job security for our current and future members,” said President Tosato.
The event marking the official opening included a number of invited guests as well as a barbecue and food to enjoy for all of the employees.
Once at full production, the membership at the facility should number about 200.
