At a ratification meeting on October 8, 2025, members at Budget Car Rentals secured a deal that brings solid wage increases and other improvements.

The Union Negotiating Committee for the Budget Car members at Pearson achieved end rate increases of $1.25 per hour in year one, $1.10 per hour in year two, and another $1.10 per hour in year three. These improvements reflect rates that meet or exceed those seen across the sector.

One member will also see an adjustment of $1 per hour on top of the rate increases.

In addition, employees on the progress grid will see increases to those rates and benefit from a reduced time of 36 months to reach top rate instead of the previous 48 months. Lead Hands will receive a premium increase of $1.50 per hour.

Members benefit from improved massage therapy coverage of $500, up from $200. Dental coverage increases to $1,500 and vision coverage is now $400. Plus, members will now receive reimbursement up to $30 toward the cost of a medical note.

Other monetary improvements provide a improved shoe allowance of $150 for employees classified as service agents, rapid return agents, and select/go. Counter agents will receive a $100 shoe allowance.

Long-service Budget Car members with 23 years or more at the employer will benefit from an additional service paid day off for a total of two per year.

The three-year collective agreement at Budget Car Rentals covers 22 UFCW Local 175 members working part or full-time at the Pearson Airport location.

Union Negotiating Committee: Jennifer Holness, Abdi Khayre, Donna Nicholas, and Union Representative Mario Tardelli.
