Apetito HFS ratifies

Apetito HFS ratifies wage and premium increases, and improvements to language with new collective agreement.
Apetito HFS (Health Food Service) members in Ottawa ratified a three-year agreement on February 10, 2025. Wages for the members will increase in each year of the agreement as follows: Year 1 – $1.10, Year 2 – $0.70, and Year 3 – $0.70.
The following shift premiums will also increase $0.10/hour to be:
- Evening Premium – $0.45
- Night Shift Premium – $0.60
- Sunday Premium – $0.35
- Temperature Premium – $0.35, which now includes Boxing Dept. and Receiving Dept.
The pension contributions for employees will increase to 3% of annual earnings, (up from 2.5%) and the employer will contribute 1.5 times the employee contribution.
Language improvements include:
- All part-time employees, that have passed their probationary period, will be promoted to full-time at date of ratification.
- NEW – Vacation bonus: employees with 20 years of service will receive a one-time lump sum payment of $500.00.
- Employees with three weeks of vacation entitlement (down from 4 weeks) will have the ability to sell back one week of vacation and receive 120% of vacation pay.
- Paid Bereavement Leave will apply to working days only and not days off.
- Safety Boot allowance increased to $190.00 (up from $175.00).
- Negotiating Committee to get one paid day to attend ratification meetings.
