To our CUPE Sisters, Brothers, and Friends on the picket line:

** Update: CUPE and Air Canada reached a tentative deal through mediation on August 19, 2025 **

August 18, 2025 – On behalf of United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 175 & 633 and the more than 70,000 members we represent across Ontario, we stand steadfast with all of you against the federal government’s attempt to undermine your rights as Union members and as working people.

We are deeply concerned by the government’s attempt to force you back to work.

The government’s intervention is a clear violation of your Charter-protected rights and an infringement on a most fundamental part of our Canadian democracy.

We support your ongoing picket action. As Unionized workers, you must be allowed to avail yourselves of all the processes and protections that come with your Union membership in this country – including the right to strike – without interference from the government.

Our Local Union will continue to stand in solidarity with CUPE Air Canada members until you get a fair collective agreement.

Stay strong.
