Delmanor Prince Edward ratifies first collective agreement to secure significant wage increases, and the rights and benefits of unionized workers with a negotiated contract.

The healthcare members at Delmanor Prince Edward Retirement residence in Etobicoke ratified a two-year agreement on June 18, 2025.

This is a first collective agreement for these HOPE Sector workers who in year one will receive lump sum payments of 3.5% across the board. In year two workers who are red circled will receive a 3% lump sum and all other workers will be placed on a new wage grid with increases as high as 14%.

There is also an RRSP with the employer matching 4% of contributions.

In health and welfare benefits the employer will pay 100% of the premiums for full-time, and 50% of the premiums for part-time workers.

A fourth week of vacation entitlement was achieved as well as the introduction of night and weekend premiums of fifteen cents per hour.

These workers reached out to our union and decided to organize in order to have support when dealing with issues of harassment, hours of work and lack of respect. They now have negotiated language along with the rights and benefits of a union contract to provide them the protections and support they sought.

Union negotiating committee: Jean Estocapio, Eun Jung, and Ijohna Moses. Union representatives: Todd Janes and Maxine Prince.
