We build. We care. We fight.
More than 2,200 delegates took part in the 2026 Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Convention over a week filled with unity, passion, and action. From UFCW Locals 175 & 633, 47 Executive Board and staff were on hand to take part among 180 UFCW delegates from across the country.
Resolutions during the convention formed the CLC Action Plans:
- We Fight for Democracy
- We Build the Future
- We Fight for Dignity
- We Care for All
- We Fight for Justice
- We Build Worker Power
For each Action Plan, a panel of Union leaders spoke to current concerns faced by workers in sectors affected by the resolutions put forth.
Over the week, delegates welcomed a number of keynote speakers including:
- Wab Kinew, Premier of Manitoba
- Avi Lewis, Leader of the Federal NDP
- Judy Darcy, Former BC Minister of Mental Health and Addictions/CUPE/CMHA
- Dr. Adelle Blackett, Professor of Law & Canada Research Chair in Transnational Labour Law at McGill University
No election was needed on Day 4, as each of the four CLC leadership positions were acclaimed. Congratulations to President Bea Bruske, Secretary-Treasurer Lily Chang, and Executive Vice-President Siobhan Vipond on continuing their roles, and welcome to new Executive Vice-President Marc-Édouard Joubert.
The week was filled with thought-provoking discussion, inspiring speakers, and workers taking an active role in the democratic process, bringing a renewed sense of purpose and pride to the convention floor to build a better future for working people across Canada.
