Women’s Network Convention 2024
May 21, 2024
On May 16 – 17, 2024, the 15th Biennial UFCW Women’s Network Convention took place. About 300 delegates from UFCW Local Unions across the United States and Canada took part in the two-day convention.
The first morning began with a panel discussion called Connect Your Power, which included Local 175 President Kelly Tosato among other women leaders from our Union. A panel later in the day included speakers from UFCW constituency groups including the UFCW Minority Coalition, UFCW United Latinos, and UFCW OutReach.
Throughout the Women’s Network Convention 2024, delegates took part in several workshops and heard from a number of presenters as well. Rebecca Johnson, from Vldl Work, led the group in a large workshop entitled ‘Developing a Leadership Mindset.’ Breakout room workshops included topics such as:
- Building Community Connections – Broad Based Organizing
- Communication is Key, and;
- Online to Offline – Identifying Leaders in Organizing Campaigns.
On May 16, our delegates grabbed protest signs and donned their women’s network t-shirts to join a rally with community leaders and other Unions at grocery store Food 4 Less in solidarity with workers fighting for better wages, benefits, and job security from its parent company Kroger.
