Members at Medical Pharmacies Group in Sudbury ratified a new three-year collective agreement recently.

The Union Negotiating Committee successfully had the three-tier wage grid eliminated and replaced with a single grid. Full-time and part-time end rates go up by 20 cents per hour in each year of the agreement term. Employees will receive the first increase retroactively for hours worked since the expiry of the previous agreement.

Red-circled employees at Medical Pharmacies Group, who have not had a raise in over seven years, will see an increase of 1.2% in each year of the agreement.

The Lead Hand premium increases to $1 per hour, up from the current rate of 65 cents per hour.

The Committee secured a $50 improvement to the employees’ uniform allowance; full-time now receive $200 per year, and part-time receive $150 per year. In addition, employees will receive the allowance upon presentation of a receipt instead of twice per year.

Members will benefit from the addition of a Floater Day, so that they now receive two per year.

Lastly, the employer agreed to pay half the cost of meeting rooms for negotiations, and will pay $100 toward the cost of printing agreements for the members.

The agreement, ratified on February 11, 2020, covers 20 full-time and four part-time employees at Medical Pharmacies Group.
