On November 23, 2018, the bargaining unit members at Vermilion Bay Co-op achieved a new two-year collective agreement.

The contract covers four full-time and three part-time employees at the food store in northwestern Ontario. When minimum wage rose to $14 per hour, the employer agreed to increase end rates by $2.45 per hour to keep rates ahead. While end rates will remain status quo through this contract, the wage grid does contain language to ensure rates stay ahead of any further provincial minimum wage changes.

Vision care coverage improves to provide $150, up from $125, per 24-month period. In addition, employer contributions toward the workers’ dental plan increase by 1 cent per hour worked.
