UFCW members at the Mine Mill in Sudbury ratify

Members at the Mine Mill in Sudbury who work for Unifor Local 598 ratified a new agreement on April 20, 2018.

The three-year agreement followed a round of bargaining that required conciliation to achieve any progress with the employer.

The negotiating committee achieved a lump sum of $600 paid to employees in each year covered by the contract term. In addition, a letter of agreement states that the employer will adjust wages annually to reflect Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) increases.

The employer will introduce a new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and provide six paid sessions per year for each employee. In addition, new contract language deals addresses Violence Against Women. Lastly, the employer will contribute $500 per year toward the Local Union’s Training & Education Fund.
