Just this morning we learned from UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema, that one of our own UFCW Brothers, Aboubaker Thabti, from Local 1991P, died in the attack at the Québec City Islamic Cultural Centre this week.
President Meinema wrote: “We are deeply saddened to learn that Aboubaker Thabti, a member of UFCW Canada Local 1991P, was one of the victims tragically killed during the attack on the Islamic Cultural Centre in Quebec.
Brother Thabti resided with his family in Sainte-Foy, and leaves behind his wife and two small children. Originally from Tunisia, Brother Thabti had been working at the Exceldor poultry plant in Saint-Anselme, Québec, since 2012.”
“On behalf of the members of Locals 175 & 633, I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Brother Thabti, and to all those deeply affected by this act of terror,” said UFCW Local 175 President Haggerty.
