Toronto Pride 2023
July 4, 2023
The theme of Toronto Pride for 2023 was “Here, There, Everywhere;” with a focus on taking action, being there for each other, advocating for our communities, and championing safe spaces for all.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633, along with UFCW Local 1006A, hosted a booth at this year’s Toronto Pride Street Fair on June 24 and 25, and marched in the big Parade through the city streets on the Sunday. Members, advocates, and staff handed out free gifts to everyone who stopped by the booth, while chatting with Pride-goers about the importance of unionization within all communities. We know that we are “Stronger Together” and will continue to support, participate and grow within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
While Canada was one of the leaders in legalizing same sex marriage in 20015, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community continues to face many barriers and challenges to achieving equality, including a recent rise in hate crimes, and anti-trans and anti-drag queen protests across Canada and the U.S.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 knows the value of community, solidarity, and representation, and your Union is here to advocate for all workers because we are Stronger Together. If you or a co-worker are experiencing discrimination, harassment, or bullying, please contact your Union Representative.
