The 18 members at the Comfort Inn Ingersoll ratified a new contract on July 6.

The previous two agreements covering front desk and other staff have been amalgamated into one agreement for all Members at the hotel.

Wage increase by $1.18 per hour for employees classified under housekeeping, guest service attendant, laundry, porter, and breakfast. Additional increases bring the rate up by $1.65 per hour in year two, and $1 per hour in year three. Over the life of the agreement, maintenance employees receive increases totalling $2 per hour and the Night Audit classification will see increases totalling $4.25 per hour.

The wage grid now includes two new classifications: Lead Hand Housekeeping and Maintenance. A new night shift premium provides a 50 cents per hour for hours worked between midnight and 8 a.m. This agreement eliminates the Incentive Room rate system, and housekeepers assigned to clean a ‘pet room’ receive an additional $10.

Health care spending accounts for full-time employees increases to $1,500 for a single employee and $2,000 for family.

The shoe allowance increases to $80, up from $60, for all employees, and the employer will contribute $500 per year, up from $250, toward the UFCW Locals 175 & 633 Training & Education Fund. Additional improvements provide for three Union Stewards and three negotiating committee members going forward.

Union Negotiating Committee: Heather Downer, Jennifer Ferrow, Amy Lariviere, and Union Rep Wendy Absolom.
