Members at Sofina Foods in Burlington ratify wage increases and numerous language improvements

The membership at Fearmans/Sofina Foods in Burlington ratified a three-year agreement on June 9, 2024 with wage increases in Year 1 – $2.00, Year 2 – 50 cents and Year 3 – 75 cents, retroactive to April 1, 2024.

Benefit enhancements include an increase to the dental coverage maximum by $250.00 for a total of $1750.00 and Physiotherapy coverage will increase from $300.00 to $400.00/year. There will now be a new benefit of orthotic coverage in the amount of $200.00/year.

Fearmans Sofina Foods ratifies

Language improvements include:

  • Eye Exam allowance increases by $25.00, and eye glasses coverage will increase by $50.00.
  • The Boot Allowance will increase to $175.00 up from $150.00 each year effective April 1, 2025.
  • The Tool Allowance will increase $100 over the lifetime of the CBA.
  • Maintenance and Apprentices will receive a $2.00/hour night shift premium.
  • The meal allowance amount will increase by $1.00.
  • New – Master Butcher Role which will add 25 new roles at the Class 5 rate of pay.
  • New Apprenticeship Language will be introduced.
  • Language will be included for single day vacation.
  • Workers who have been injured at work will not have their pay negatively effected after 2 years if they cannot return to their pre-injury job.
  • Pay received for stat holidays will be considered as hours worked and will count towards overtime.
