Ridgewood Industries ratifies wage and language increases despite challenging negotiations

After a difficult set of negotiations, the members at Ridgewood Industries in Cornwall ratified a two-year agreement on May 5, 2024. There will be general wage increases on: April 1, 2024 – 30 cents, October 1st, 2024 – 30 cents and April 1, 2025 – 60 cents. The afternoon shift premium will increase by $1.15/hour.

The employees will now have the ability to contribute in the group RRSP. Previously the plan only permitted the employer to contribute, now the members have the ability to match contributions.

Language improvements include:

  • Family day will be added to the list of paid holidays.
  • An extra Floater Day for employees with more than 25 years of service.
  • Increase to the Boot Allowance from $120 to $150.00.
  • Introduced a training premium of $1.00/hour for all hours spent training.
  • Improvement in bereavement leave to include one paid day for parent’s siblings and niblings.
  • Extra severance was also negotiated in case of closure.

Union negotiating committee: Albert Boileau, Mike Leroux, Jean Patenaude and Rene Roberts. Union representative: Shannon Epp.
