Pano Cap members vote yes to three-year contract

The 60 full-time employees at Pano Cap in Kitchener ratified a three-year contract on August 16, 2017.
Wages improve by 1.65% in year one, 1.85% in year two, and 2% in year three. Members benefit from improved afternoon and night shift premiums as well. Overall, language clarifications provide streamlined wage improvements and assist in the job bidding process for skilled jobs. In addition, on-call language improves to provide enhanced compensation of more than double the current rate.
The employer will cover the cost of medical notes up to $100 per note. The safety shoe allowance increases to $175 per year, and bereavement language improves as well.
“I’m very proud of this committee,” said Union Rep Mike Mattioli. “The work done by seasoned negotiators Susan and Osama, and Tony who experienced his first set of negotiations, was impressive. They did a great job negotiating a strong agreement in a difficult industry.”
