OWA sends letter regarding social media and injured workers

The Ontario Office of the Worker Adviser has sent out an alert to injured workers in the WSIB system that the WSIB “has the authority to conduct video surveillance on current claims with WSIB.”
This not only applies to video of your daily activities outside of your home, but it also includes social media monitoring including Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and any other online social sites you may use.
We urge you to be cautious about what you post because how you view your photos, videos, etc, is not necessarily how someone else will interpret them.
