A new wage scale, which ensures rates stay ahead of minimum wage, will provide increases each year. In addition, members will receive a one-time lump sum payment of $200 for full-time and $150 for part-time following ratification.

Other negotiated improvements that put money back in the hands of the members include an improved safety footwear allowance of 100% up to $125, instead of 50% up to $80. Plus, all tools required will now be provided by the employer so members will not incur out-of-pocket expenses to do their jobs.

The Union Negotiating Committee also succeeded in having the employer pay all premium increases to maintain benefits for the duration of the agreement.

Language improvements address Leaves of Absence including, two days every other year for members to attend conferences or Stewards’ training, and up to four consecutive weeks per person for an allowed Leave of Absence. Further improvements allow Cage Operators to request additional assistance on heavy load days. In addition, a Union steward may request a shift change with two weeks’ notice in order to attend an evening general membership meeting provided the employer is able to schedule, where possible, on day the shift.
