Norwesco Canada members ratify new three-year agreement with significant wage increases

Norwesco Canada Ltd members (formerly Xactics) in Cornwall ratified a three-year agreement on October 12, 2023. Effective Date of Ratification wages will increase 7% for all wage scales plus a $500 lump sum payment in lieu of retro, August 8, 2024 – 3% to all wage scales and August 8, 2025 – 3% to all wage scales. Evening Shift premium will increase to $.60/hour and Night Shift premium will increase to $.75/hour.
The employer will increase their contribution 1% more towards the cost of employees’ benefits for each year of the contract.
Other language improvements include:
- New – 5th week of vacation added after 20 years of seniority.
- Boot Allowance increased to: $135 – 2023, $140 – 2024 and $145 – 2025.
- Probationary period has been reduced from 120 days worked to 60 days worked and moving forward new hires will be eligible for benefits upon completing the now reduced probation period.
- The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation added to the list of stat holidays.
