Nipissing Cooperative member ratify significant wage increases and language improvements

The members working for Nipissing Cooperative in Verner & Noelville ratified a three-year agreement on September 13, 2023. The part-time grid is minimum wage plus with an increase to the MW + gap. Full-time grid has high rates of pay for store clerks and a significant increase of 3.5% in the first year, followed by 2% and 1% in the following years. There is also a $3.00 wage adjustment for petroleum division drivers. Full-time members will receive a lump sum payment of $300 and Part-time and students will receive a payment of $150.
The employer contribution to the pension will increase by $0.20 hourly over three years.
Other improvements include the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to the list of paid stat holidays, bereavement language is improved, and there is cross training language to enable workers to pick up available shifts and train in other departments. There will be a new contribution to Training and Education Fund as well.
