New Year, New Union for workers at Dynacare Gamma Laboratory Partnership
February 1, 2023
To start the new year right, workers at Dynacare Laboratory approached the UFCW Locals 175 & 633 Organizing Department to help improve their workplaces.
The campaign which lasted one month, began when workers reached out to our Union through ufcw175.com to address inequity, favouritism, and respect in their workplaces.
And, following a successful vote on January 11 and 12, 2023, UFCW Locals 175 & 633 was happy to welcome the more than 70 Dynacare employees to the membership. Our newest members work at nine Dynacare locations across Hamilton, Burlington, Kitchener, and Niagara Falls.
“As healthcare providers, these workers appreciate the value of joining and belonging to a Union,” said UFCW Local 175 President Shawn Haggerty. “They have some very real and important issues that need to be addressed in their workplaces and we know they chose the right Union for the job.”
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 represent over 5,000 members in long-term care, retirement homes, homecare, and congregate care settings, and consistently fight to address the ongoing struggles of these workers daily,” said Haggerty. “We are proud to be a Union that fights, not only in the workplaces but in the broader public sector, especially when our government consistently targets the workers in this industry through chronic underfunding and understaffing.”
Welcome to your Union.
