On January 18, the Union members at Great Lakes Elevator in Owen Sound achieved a new collective agreement.
Members will see wages increase by $1.05 per hour over the three-year contract term. Employees may use banked hours on an hourly basis for medical or legal appointments, and for snow days as well.
The Union negotiating committee secured language that ensures the employer will offer any work available at out-of-town sites by seniority, and will be strictly voluntary. Important new additions establish respect and no discrimination language. In addition, the committee achieved a sunset clause on discipline.
Union Negotiating Committee: Mike David, Mike Morrison, and Union Rep Diane Sanvido.
