The bargaining unit at Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) ratified a new two-year collective agreement on December 17, 2021.

An initial wage adjustment in the first year of the agreement amounts to just over $150 more bi-weekly which brings this rate up to par with industry standards. Subsequent rate increases include 2% in year two, and another 2% in year three.

The Union Negotiating Committee achieved improved paid sick leave of three days, and that any medical notes required by the employer will be paid 100% by the employer. In addition, language improvements address personal, sick, and emergency leaves of absence.

Language in the agreement now recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a paid statutory holiday. Bereavement entitlement now includes leave for the death of a parent-in-law.
