New agreement achieved by members at Compass Group Bluewater

On December 28, 2016, the members of Local 175 working at Compass Group at Bluewater Health in Sarnia and Petrolia ratified a new collective agreement.

Members achieved wages increases totalling $1.25 per hour over the four-year life of the contract. Employees assigned as Lead Hand receive a premium of 50 cents per hour in addition the regular rate of pay. The company will pay $45 toward the cost of anti-slip footwear for employees.

Language improvements include the addition of delayed internment or ceremony under bereavement provisions, and the employer will increase its portion of the cost-share for the employee’s health and welfare benefits, resulting in a 5% decrease in employee contributions.
