Mobile Climate agreement ratified
January 29, 2019
During this set of negotiations, the parties met in conciliation mainly to deal with monetary issues. The contract, which members at Mobile Climate ratified on January 21, 2019, was a final offer from the company.
The Union negotiating committee focused on achieving wage and pension improvements for the membership. The ratified contract will see wage increases of 50 cents per hour in each year of the three-year term. The first increase will provide retroactive pay for hours worked since March 30, 2018. In addition, some job classifications will see increases to both the start and end rates as well.
A new pension plan will see the employer match contributions up to $250 per employee per year toward an RRSP, to which employees may contribute up to $500 per year.
Employees benefit from an increase to the cap for Health & Welfare Paramedic coverage. Plus, all employees will receive a new drug card and improved coverage for dispensing fees. The provisions for eye glasses improve as well.
Lastly, the Union’s negotiating committee achieved better language regarding seniority as it applies to job opportunities. Plus, the new agreement now contains Human Rights Code language.
