Members at Renco Foods secure new agreement

Renco Foods members ratify - UFCW 175During this round of bargaining, the membership at Renco Foods wanted to achieve a new wage scale for part-time employees with ‘minimum wage plus’ language. The resulting ratified contract contains this new wage scale, which will help ensure the pay rates for the 37 part-time employees stay ahead of any announced minimum wage increases

All members at the top rate will receive raises totalling $1.70 per hour over the term of the agreement. Shift premiums improve to provide $1.25 per hour for employees who relieve the Assistant Store Manager position. A premium of $1 per hour applies to employees who relieve the following positions:

  • Second Assistant Manager,
  • Department managers in Meat, Produce, Bakery, and Deli, and;
  • Head Cashier.

A new optical plan applies to part-time employees at Renco Foods who have three years of service and average 15 hours per week. This plan provides $250 toward vision care every two years.

Bereavement language improves to allow employees to save one day for internment or celebration of life at a later date.

Members ratified the agreement, which covers 45 employees at the retail grocery store in Thunder Bay, on May 13, 2019.
