McMunn & Yates members approved new contract

On the morning of December 7, 2018, the members of Local 175 employed at McMunn & Yates in Fort Frances ratified a new deal.
The seven building supplier workers at McMunn & Yates, formerly North American Lumber, achieved a three-year agreement with a number of improvements.
Wages will improve by:
- 3% in the first year,
- 2% in the second year, and;
- 1% in the third year of the contract.
Pension contributions will increase by 2 cents per hour worked, and members will benefit from improved vision care coverage of $250, up from $200, per 24-month period.
The safety boot allowance increases to $200, up from $150. Those employees licensed as DZ or higher will have their licenses and required medicals paid for by the employer.
Bereavement leave improves to include grandchildren, common-law spouses, and step-siblings under the five days paid leave for Immediate Family. Plus, the three-day bereavement provision now includes aunts and uncles as well.
