Markey Funeral Home members ratify

The members of UFCW Local 175 at Markey Family Funeral Home in Hamilton recently ratified a new three-year agreement.

Highlights of the new contract include a $1,000 lump sum paid following ratification, plus a 2% increase in year two and another 2% raise in year three. The company will increase its contributions to the workers’ dental plan by 2 cents per hour per employee.

The agreement contains new language that provides a sunset clause for discipline records. Lastly, the employer will contribute $250 toward the UFCW Local 175 Training & Education Fund.

The ratified contract covers 11 full-time employees at the funeral home.
