Madoc community living members achieve increases and language improvements

The membership at Madoc C.O.P.E. unanimously ratified a new three-year collective agreement on June 1, 2023. All rates and classifications will receive increases of: Year 1 – 2.5% increase retroactive from April 1, 2023, Year 2 – 2%, Year 3 – 2%. Passport and Casual employees will receive a $3.00 increase to $21.00 per hour.

Other language improvements include:

  • If the death of a family member in the qualifying list occurs while an employee is on shift, and the employee is notified while at work, they shall be entitled to leave work with pay for the remainder of their shift once coverage is secured. The remainder of the shift will not be considered the first day of bereavement leave.
  • Union steward will be notified and copied on any correspondence within seven calendar days of discovery of any alleged offence to which discipline is issued.
  • There will be negotiation prep leave, ratification meeting leave and leave for reviewing the final collective agreement leave.
  • The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Remembrance Day will be added to the list of holidays.
