Local Union taking part in the Ontario Health Coalition General Assembly
November 17, 2018
This weekend, members of the Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) are taking part in the OHC General Assembly.
In attendance from the Local Union are Karen Vaughan, who is the Local 175 Recorder and an RN at Maplewood Long-Term Care Home in Brighton, plus Fernando Reis, Director of the Legal Department and head of our HOPE Sector. In the Fall 2018 issue of Checkout magazine, we featured the members at Maplewood in our Members at Work Series. Check it out here.
This weekend’s assembly is designed to set the agenda for the OHC to keep improving healthcare for all Ontario.
Your Union represents more than 5,000 health care workers in:
- long-term care facilities,
- retirement homes,
- community care centres,
- home and assisted care programs,
- and more.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 participates regularly in these types of meetings as well as events organized by the OHC. Recently, we joined the OHC in a rally for quality, affordable, and public health care in our province. Read that article and see the photos here.
This OHC Assembly is an opportunity for the participating members and supporters to identify key issues and strategize to protect and expand public health care for all Ontarians in light of the challenges we face under the Ford government.
