Local 175 Member Receives Health & Safety Award

Recently, Local 175 member Tamara McKendry received a Health & Safety award for her hard work ensuring the safety of her Union Sisters, Brothers, and Friends at the store where she works.
Tamara is a full-time Salad Bar Clerk at the Sobeys store in Orangeville. She is the Certified Worker Co-Chair on the Health & Safety Committee, and Tamara has been a Steward since 2013. She also takes part on the members’ negotiating committee.
“Tamara represents her co-workers with compassion, integrity, and respect,” said Union Rep Diane Sanvido. “She ensures that the safety and well-being of the Members comes first. I’m so proud of all of her excellent work and grateful for all she does for the membership.”
In recognition of her commitment and hard work, the Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) and the Orangeville & District Labour Council presented Tamara with the Health & Safety Volunteer Activist Award.
On hand to present the award was former Local 175 member Primrose Short, plus Nancy Hutchinson from the WHSC. Tamara’s husband Len, and children Liam and Samantha joined her for the evening’s festivities as well.
