UFCW 175 - Legion Village Union Members Negotiating CommitteeHealth care workers at Legion Village in Cobourg achieved a new agreement on May 23, 2018.

Bargaining took place through the Hospital Labour Disbutes Arbitration Act (HLDAA) and members ratified the awarded contract at their meeting.

Members will receive increases over the three-year term, and a signing bonus of $200 for part-time workers too. Plus, the weekend shift premium improves to 25 cents per hour as well. Full-time employees benefit from improvements to their floater holidays and pension. In addition, the contract includes a new full-time position.

Vacation entitlement now provides up to five weeks off with pay after 15 years of service with the employer. Other important improvements address health and afety, and provide enhanced union security and probation language.

The agreement covers 35 part-time and 14 full-time health care employees at the supportive housing facility for seniors and adults.
