Larabie’s YIG ratifies monetary gains and language improvements

Members in Kapuskasing working at Larabie’s YIG ratified a five-year agreement on June 4, 2024.

Full-time end rates will increase by $1.50 on Date of Ratification retroactive to date of expiry and then by an additional $3.00 over the term of the agreement.

Part-time end rates will increase by $1.00 on Date of Ratification and then by $2.20 over the course of the collective agreement. All part-time and students will receive a signing bonus of $100. 

Language improvements include:

  • Any employee relieving a manager will receive $50.00 increased from $40.00.
  • Department Managers assigned to close the store will receive a premium of $15.00, up from $10.00.
  • All employees who are required to wear safety footwear, will receive a boot allowance of $100.00 up from $85.00.
  • Vacation pay for part time employees can now be taken at the time of their vacation instead of a predetermined date.
  • Improved bereavement language to include step child, step parent, and step sibling.
  • A new letter of understanding will be introduced regarding minimum wage gap language.
