May 3, 2017
The full-time Office Staff at Katoen Natie in Mississauga ratified a new collective agreement on April 27, 2017. This agreement was reached through conciliation. Members rejected an earlier offer and were ready to strike if necessary.

The guaranteed increases secured provide 2% effective the date of ratification plus a $550 lump sum, and subsequent increases of 2% plus a $550 lump sum in each of the following years covered by the agreement. In addition, the parties signed a letter of agreement ensuring that the existing full-time jobs will be maintained for the duration of the contract.
The membership benefit from a number of language improvements including an update to the ‘no discrimination’ policy and new job posting provisions. Education leave will now be paid at 100% instead of the previous 80%, and parental leave has been added to the agreement.
