Jollibee Foods members secure wage increases, benefits and sick days with new contract

The members employed by Honeybee Foods Canada Corp. C.O.B. as Jollibee Foods in North York ratified a three-year agreement on June 2, 2023.
There will be a new progression wage grid as follows:
- Year 1 – workers with less than three years of service – minimum wage +$.15, three years of service – minimum wage +$.20, four or more years – minimum wage +$.35.
- Year 2 – workers with less than three years of service -minimum wage +$.15, three years of service – minimum wage +$.25, four or more years – minimum wage+$.40.
- Year 3 – workers with less than three years of service – minimum wage +$.20, three years of service – minimum wage +$.30, four or more years – minimum wage +$.45.
- Closing shift premium $.25 (10pm to midnight).
- Crew trainers $50/month
A health and welfare benefit plan will be introduced for full-time employees as well as the introduction of two paid sick days for full-time.
Other improvements include:
- Introduction of Citizenship Leave (1 paid day to attend formal hearings for Canadian Citizenship).
- Increase of Bereavement days from 2 to 3 days (1 day can be carried forward).
- Fridge/Freezer wear or winter jacket provided every 3 years.
- Parental leave included with pregnancy leave.
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation added to the list of holidays.
- Vacation pay to be paid out in a lump sum instead of every pay cheque.
- Seniority for the store location recognized.
- Paid a minimum of 4hrs if sent home early.
- One free meal for a shift of 5 hours or more (not to exceed $8).
