Hospitality members in Ottawa at the Westin ratify new collective agreement

The members at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa ratified a four-year agreement on June 16, 2023.
Members will receive wage increase with a range as follows: Year 1 – $0.70 to $1.00, Year 2 – $0.70 to $0.90, Year 3 – $0.50 to $0.75, Year 4 – $0.50 to $0.75, with the exception of banquet employees will receive a gratuities increase of 12.6% in 2024 and 12.7% in 2025. The Training Premium will increase to $1.00 per hour (up from $0.75) and the Overnight Premium has increased to $1.00 per hour (up from $0.60). There will be a new premium of $1.00/hour for the Maintenance 1 classification.
Other language improvements include:
- Engineering Employees tool allowance increase to $75.00 yearly (up from $50.00)
- Part-Time Employees to get Paid Bereavement days equal to Full-Time Employees
- Daly’s Employees to get an increase in gratuity allowance 13% – up from 12%
- Door/Valet Gratuities increased to $.2.00 per vehicle (up from $1.85)
- Coffee Compensation for Housekeeping increased to $60.00 yearly (up from $50.00)
- Clean up premium increase to $15.00 per incident (up from ($10.00)
- Storeroom Receivers to get a yearly shoe allowance of $85.00
- The employer will supply insulated winter jackets, snow pants and gloves for the Houseman Housekeeping employees.
- Added Leaves of Absence language from the ESA into the Collective Agreement.
- One paid day off – Negotiating Committee for a Negotiations Prep Meeting
- One paid day off – Negotiating Committee to attend Ratification Meetings
