Holiday Inn express members achieve significant language and  wage increases

The members in Sault Ste. Marie at the Holiday Inn Express have ratified a three-year agreement on February 9, 2023. Wage increases for housekeepers will increase by 10% over the three-year term with 6% in the first year. Other classifications will see increases of: Year 1 – 3.5%, Year 2 – 2% and Year 3 – 2%. Members who accept a call-in shift will receive a $2.00 per hour shift premium. Minimum wage plus language will also be included in the agreement.

Members can now earn Quarterly Wellness Days. With perfect attendance achieved during any quarterly period members will be entitled to a paid day off.

Other language improvements include that the boot allowance will be $250 for the maintenance department. There will be three new full-time positions added in housekeeping department and members with 15 years of service will be entitled to five weeks of vacation.
