Twenty-two members of UFCW Local 175 employed at Rekai Centres in Toronto achieved a new collective agreement recently.

The two-year agreement at Rekai Centres provides members with across-the-board wage increases of 1.5% in each year of the term. The first increase is retroactive for hours worked since the expiry of the previous agreement. Members benefit from improved shift premiums as well: Both the Night Shift and the Weekend premium increase by 10 cents per hour each as of ratification.

Employees on Short-Term Disability (STD) will now receive 70% pay, up from the previous 662/3% pay.

Important new language in the agreement addresses Infectious Disease and Damage to Personal Property as well. Plus, other language improves bereavement leave, and pregnancy and parental leave. Lastly, the Union Negotiating Committee achieved new language covering job sharing/time sharing.

This agreement, ratified on February 5, 2020, covers nine full-time and 13 part-time staff at Rekai Centres.

Union Negotiating Committee: Glenda Idolor, Evangeline Lacuesta, and Union Rep John Di Falco.
