Havelock Foodland ratifies wage increases, language improvements and additional vacation entitlement

The members in Havelock at Foodland have ratified a new four-year collective agreement on March 14, 2022. Wage increases will be 2.5% in each year of the collective agreement to top rates which will be added on to the minimum wage plus scale for full and part-time members.
Department Heads will receive an increase of $1.00 per hour and meat cutters will receive an additional $0.50 per hour to the already established premiums. A full-time employee who is appointed to support the Head Cashier/Customer Service Manager will receive a premium of $1.00 per hour for a minimum of twenty hours per week.
There will be an increase to the eye exam allowance from $35.00 to $50.00 every 24 months. The work pant reimbursement will increase from $60.00 to $70.00 annually and safety footwear allowance of $65.00 every 12 months with the option to carry over to next period for $130 in 24 months.
New language will allow employees with 30 years service to receive 6 weeks of vacation at 12% of gross annual earnings. New language on bereavement flexibility will allow members to distribute their bereavement leave entitlement over 2 occasions within 12 months of death in order to make arrangements.
