Freshco Gerrard ratifies language gains and wage increase with new contract

Freshco Gerrard members in Toronto unanimously ratified a new collective agreement with a five-year term on May 27, 2024.

Full-time workers at top rate will see wages increase at Year 1 – $1.00, Year 2 – $.75, Year 3 – $.75, Year 4 – $.75 and Year 5 – $.80. Part-time members at top rate will receive wage increases of: Year 1 – $.70, Year 2 – $.50, Year 3 – $.45, Year 4 – $.40 and Year 5 – $.35.

Lump sum payments will be received by full time in the amount of $1000, part-time at end rate will receive $500, and all others will receive $100.

Language improvements include:

• Increase in eye glasses coverage from $200 to $250 for full and part-time.
• Increased bereavement leave from three to five days for step-parent or step sibling and aunt and uncle.
• Any unused sick days will be paid out at end of the year.
• The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be added to the list of paid holidays for full-time.
• The Sunset clause was reduced from 18 to 15 months.
• The employer will make a $1250 one-time contribution to the Training and Education Fund.
