Fire at Kirkland Lake Foodland

On April 12^th, the Foodland in Kirkland Lake suffered a fire originating from roof repair work.

Fortunately, no one was injured but the store sustained extensive damage and the entire inventory, destroyed by smoke and water, had to be discarded. To date the store remains closed.

Our members had just begun the process of negotiating the renewal of their collective agreement in early April when the fire struck. The store hopes to be re-opened in a few weeks, however at this time nothing is certain.
