On February 1, members working at Delrose Retirement Residence ratified a new collective agreement.

The members, who belong to Local 175’s Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector, work as Registered Practical Nurses, Housekeeping, Personal Support Workers, Guest Attendants, Cooks, Supper Cooks, Cooks Helpers, and Activity Aides at the Delhi retirement residence.

Following conciliation and the referral of the matter to Arbitration, the Union Negotiating Committee and the employer met and successfully achieved the following improvements in the three-year agreement.

Wages will increase by 2% in each year of the contract term with the first raise retroactive for hours worked since August 1, 2016. There will be a trial period for new overtime provisions to improve scheduling by seniority, and language now provides that no full-time employee would be required to work more than five consecutive days.

Employer contributions to the UFCW Trusteed Dental Fund will increase to 40 cents per hour and Family Day has been added as a paid holiday in the contract language, increasing the paid holidays in the agreement from 11 to 12.
