Unionized Compass Group employees at Sienna Senior Living in Orillia ratified a new three-year agreement in February 2021.
To deal with an impasse on monetary proposals, the Union requested the assistance of a Conciliation Officer. The resulting three-year agreement includes annual wage increases, language improvements, and other monetary increases.
Members will see their rates go up by 25 cents per hour in each year of the agreement. The first increase will be paid retroactively for all hours worked since December 1, 2020.
Eye exam coverage will now improve to $50, up from $35, per two-year period. Full-time members will also benefit from an increased shoe allowance of $75, up from $65.
Language improvements address Pay Equity, and the company will now cover 100% of the fees for course modules instead of the previous 50% coverage. In addition, the agreement now contains gender neutral language throughout.
The collective agreement, ratified on February 25, 2021, covers nine full-time and 18 part-time employees in the bargaining unit at Compass Group Sienna Senior Living in Orillia.
